Coverings & Cushioning

Top cover choices are important for maximum device efficiency.  Patients have shown to have a positive association to cushioning, which is why DPM Orthotics offers an array of top cover, cushioning and bottom cover choices.  

Top Covers

Vinyl

Vinyl covers are the most durable top covering and have been an industry standard for decades. Vinyl is always laminated to cushioning to create a soft, yet extremely rugged top cover. Vinyl can be cleaned with a damp cloth and does not retain as much odor as some other covers. These covers are available in tan, blue, black, and brown colors.

Synthetic Suede

Synthetic Suede covers are very durable and look great. Suede is usually laminated to our Blue Bounce cushioning material when used as a top cover. The synthetic suede we use is a dark brown color.

Perf-Lite

Perf-Lite covers are a perforated EVA which is a synthetic foam cushioning material.  This type of EVA cover is widely used by podiatric and orthopedic labs.  Perf-lite is available in blue or black colors.

Diabetic

Diabetic covers are of an industry standard design.  We laminate a Pink Plastazote top to a soft Blue Bounce cushion material.  Because they are so soft and there is very little surface tension, this is a great choice for the diabetic foot or sensitive feet in general.

Neoprene

Neoprene covers have a fabric top laminated to a very soft rubber cushioning material. These appliances are very soft, and the cushioning will not “bottom out” with long term usage.  Because of these factors, patients have very positive associations to this covering material. Neoprene is available in blue or black colors.

Bamboo

Bamboo covers are similar to Neoprene covers, but with some pronounced differences.  Bamboo covers are embedded with nano particles of naturally grown bamboo charcoal. This creates an antibacterial / antifungal top cover which is deodorizing, soft, and durable.  It is our highest rated covering choice. (Available in gray)

MC Puff covers are cut out of multi-colored EVA which is a synthetic foam cushioning material.  The striking multiple color patterns put fun into the design process of your patient’s orthotics. Available in Pink, Blue, Purple, Gray, Red/Purple/Yellow, Orange/Yellow, Yellow/Black/Gray.

Bottom Covers

Bottom Covers are added to provide a higher aesthetic to the orthotic and create a more finished look.  Bottom Covers also re-enforce the forefoot extensions, providing ease of placement in to and removal from the patient’s shoes.

Bottom Cover selections include choices of vinyl, synthetic suede as well as Microcell Foam.  All DPM Orthotic bottom cover choices are extremely durable, providing additional value to the patient and practice, by extending the life of the appliances.

Cushioning

Our standard cushioning is Blue Bounce .  Blue Bounce is a soft EVA cushioning material that easily adheres to top covers.  

Available in 1/16' & 1/8" depths for mets, sulcus & toes lengths.
