Accommodations
Modifications
Met Pads (Teardrop)
1st Ray Cutout

DPM Orthotic met pads come in the classic teardrop shape, with a standard height of 1/8”.  They are placed proximal to met heads 2-4.

1st Ray cutouts are a diagonal removal of the shell behind #1.  This modification is typically associated with Plantar Flexed 1st Rays and Pes Cavus foot types.

Met Raise (Under Met Heads)

Met raises are 1/8” pads placed under the indicated met heads.  For example, to off-load number 1, you would raise 2-5.  Another example, to off-load number 3, you would raise 1, 2 4 and 5.

Gait Plates

A gait plate is a special type of orthotic that encourages the feet to straighten with every step in the shoe and orthotic.  You can order gait plates to promote the patient to either “toe-in” or “toe-out”.

Heel Cushion

Heel cushions are 1/8” pads placed under the heels.

Heel Spur (Pocket)
Hole in Heel of Shell

This is an aperture cut through the plastic surface located in the heel cup.

This allows for the foot to sit lower in the heel, and is a great modification to assist with hard to fit shoes.

A Heel Spur pocket is a round aperture cut into the cushioning to create a “pocket”, or indentation under the heel.

Morton's Extension

A Morton's extension is an extension of the orthotic that changes the function of the foot by limiting the range of motion of the great toe joint.  Morton’s Extensions can be ordered in two different materials, rigid plastic or soft materials.  Also, they can be ordered to extend to the distal edge of the Hallux, or to the sulcus.

Pockets

Pockets are a round aperture, cut into the cushioning, to off-load a specified area.

Arch Pad

Cut into a half-oval shape, this 1/8” pad is placed on the orthotic at the medial longitudinal arch.

UCBL

Very high medial and lateral flanges combined with a deep heel seat.

Medial Flange

Modification & Accommodation
Video Tutorial Library

A Medial Flange is a vertical extension of the medial arch region in the shell that offers pronatory control. This option is available in two different materials, plastic (most controlling) and crepe (controlling and best tolerated).

Lateral Flange

A Lateral Flange is a vertical extension of the lateral arch region in the shell that offers supinatory control. This option is available in two different materials, plastic (most controlling) and crepe (controlling and best tolerated).
